For the past while, retro consoles have been returning, redesigned and better functionality than the originals. One of the first ones was the NES Classic Mini, and then the SNES Classic Mini, and even a PS1 Classic Mini. However, with consoles such as those, especially the NES, it's much better to just run an emulator. The controller only had a few buttons, so playing on a PC wouldn't be too difficult.
Furthermore, the latest "reborn" classic home computer to hit the shelves is the C64 (Commodore 64), which you may or may not know, was the best selling home computer of all time. I have been wanting to get one, but unfortunately for myself and many others who live in North America, and want one, they will either have to purchase from an online UK / European retailer, and purchase a US plug, as European power plugs are different than North American ones.
RetroGames Ltd., a UK-based company has come up with the reborn C64 as a C64 Mini. Now, that console had gained much anticipation before it's release, and most people very much enjoyed it. This version was released in North America, however, RetroGames Ltd. thought they'd create a fullsize C64, nearly exactly identical to the original (comparison video / review below)... this version is only available in the UK and other European countries, such as Germany, Italy, and France.
It sucks a bit, because there were numerous complaints on the joystick for the C64 Mini, and who wants to use a miniature computer when you can have a fullsize one. I guess for us who live in North America, we will just have to wait.
Perhaps with these classic consoles that are making a comeback, we will have more people joining the scene(s), and those who were in the scene(s) back then, greater achievements and hackers / game developers will arise.
Anyways... What is your opinion on retro consoles making a comeback?
